Product description CD Review I'll tell you this much: I haven't even finished the first CD and I already know harmonies. Enough said. -- Kevin George, CDbaby.comYour harmony CDs are brilliant. Being able to pan between melody and harmony supercharges learning. -- Stuart & Elizabeth Hodes, CDbaby.com From the Artist Skill Level: Beginning to Intermediate. The early songs are very easy, the later songs increase in difficulty. Vocal Ranges: Melodies: F# to A alto/high tenor range Upper harmonies: A to C alto/soprano range Lower harmonies: D to C baritone/tenor/low alto range All parts can be doubled an octave above or below the harmonies on the CD to allow lower and higher singers to join in. Doubling is explained during the instruction.Songs on Harmony Singing By Ear: Chapel of Love Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) I Can See Clearly Now Angel From Montgomery Bring It On Home To Me Centerpiece One of Us Walk Away Renee About the Artist Vocal coach Susan Anders has taught singers how to harmonize for over twenty years. CD #1 of Harmony Singing By Ear has spent the past two weeks plugged into my car's player. My work commute includes a nice 30-minute stretch of highway driving/practice time. I've practiced with the disc coming and going.Yesterday was the test. A friend and I sat down to play guitar and sing. I sang serviceable harmonies on several songs and on several others, comfortably held the melody line while my buddy added his harmonies. While I'm a decent guitarist, I've been at best, a weak singer. I still have quite a ways to go before I'll call myself a truly competent harmony singer, but Ms. Anders disc has helped me open the door. Tomorrow morning, disc two goes in the player.A word about the songs. Not all of them are songs I would choose to play or sing on my own. I'm not going to pull out Chapel of Love at a wine bar gig, but it was a great, and easy to assimilate introduction to parallel harmony singing. The songs Ms. Anders chose for the disc are proving to be great teaching tools. The only downside for me are the finished sing along tracks. At 70 mph, I don't want to be distracted by taking time to adjust speaker balances. This prevents me from panning the tracks to isolate the various parts. Don't take this to be a criticism of the disc. It's the way I choose to use it that limits my ability to take full advantage of it's functionality. I'm only mentioning it so other singing drivers are aware. If you're willing to practice regularly and diligently, you'll find Ms. Anders' program to be a great help.
